Search In Document Properties
Meridian Explorer provides two types of property searches: simple searches as described in this topic and advanced searches as described in Advanced Search. Simple searches let you specify values for the properties that you want to find.
The properties that are available for searching may be either predefined by a system administrator or you may add properties yourself. Each combination of a property name and its value are called a criterion. You must specify at least one criterion. When you find the items that you are looking for, you can save the current search criteria as a view filter for later reuse.
- The available search options are configured by a system administrator and may not include all of the options described in the following task.
- When entering search values for a property, separate multiple search values by spaces. Only documents with properties that contain all of the values (AND operator) in any order will be shown. For example, entering steam turbine will return documents with the values steam turbine and steam powered turbine. To search for a phrase, enclose the phrase in double quotation marks (“”). For example, entering “100 MW” steam turbine will return documents with the values 100 MW steam turbine and 100 MW turbine.
To perform a simple search on document properties:

In the ribbon menu, click Search and then in the ribbon, click Form Search. The available search options appear. By default, one or more search criteria with empty text boxes might be available. These are configured by a system administrator.
- To use a default search property, type a search value in its text box.
- To search in a different property:
- Click the Add Property icon
. The EDIT SEARCH PROPERTIES dialog box appears. The available properties are configured by a system administrator. - Select a different property from the list and click OK. The selected property is appended to the list of search properties.
- Type a search value in the new text box.
- Click the Add Property icon
- When you are finished specifying search criteria, click SEARCH. The search results appear in the results pane.
