New in AM2003c: New Release of the Import Wizard

Importing data is an important part of an implementation of a document management system. Cyco Software therefore puts continuous effort on improving its Import module that can be used for importing and migration data from other data sources. This release contains a large amount of major improvements to the import wizard that makes the Import Wizard an even more powerful tool to migrate and import data into an AutoManager vault.

The following additions have been made to the Import Wizard:

• Documents can be imported as revisions of pre-existing documents that are already located inside the vault. This allows a more flexible method of breaking up imports into several partial imports.
• Released documents and documents that need to be imported into work areas can now be imported in the same import. This reduces the number of separate steps that might have to be taken in an import/migration.
• The file type of a document is now determined based on the new name of a document inside the vault instead of the original name of a documents. This allows a better import from other document management systems that scramble their file names like Empresa eChange.
• To better determine the order of revisions when importing, a new feature is introduced to determine the order of revisions imported using a separate field. This allows a smoother importing process when importing documents with revision systems where the revision names do not follow a predefined sort-order.
• A special mapping for the ‘revision’ field has been added to allow an easier way to determine the revision number of imported documents when only one revision of a document is imported.
• Document references can be imported when migration an AutoManager WorkFlow database to AutoManager Meridian or AutoManager TeamWork allowing more data to be transferred when migrating.
• Documents can be immediately imported under status ‘Retired’.
