New in AM2006: Application Links

In AutoManager Meridian 2006 the licensing scheme has been changed. Besides a database connection license, a PowerUser license is now required for the use of any of the CAD links and certain functionality in the PowerUser.

AutoCAD

• It was possible to get an error message from AutoCAD about the inability to save data to the drawing as it is being accessed by another session. This happened if acad.ini contained the setting UseDBLock=1. This is now fixed. Bug 22090: "After upgrade from 2004A to 2004C CAD drawings are sort of locked. (UseDBLock)", RefNum PM051230081420

• After using File | Send... command in AutoCAD, AutoManager commands like "AMMEDIT", or "AMSHOWRED" stopped working. This is now fixed. Bug 21877: "AMCAD link commands stop to work after ACAD command was used.", RefNum AM051128103252
   
• It's now possible to use "Start Change" in stead of "Quick Change" for in-place editing of X-refs.

Inventor

• A number of optimizations were done in the AutoManager plug-in for Inventor which improve load times of large assemblies dramatically. Bug 21343: "Inventor Browser can be faster", RefNum Fv050921142300

• So-called physical properties of Inventor are now also available for synchronization to the AutoManager Vault. These properties describe physical properties of the model and include such properties as material, sizes and weight. Note that these properties are only available for synchronization from the model to the AutoManager Vault, and also only in the Inventor link (so not for the Synchronize Properties from File command in the PowerUser). Below is a list of the properties that are available.

• Synchronizing an empty date property from Inventor to AutoManager would cause the property in the vault to be checked with the current date. Solidworks

• When releasing a document from a Work Area the revision number could not be updated in the SolidWorks drawing. This is now fixed. Bug 21871: "release from WA does not update revision number in SW drawing", RefNum VL051124172428

MicroStation

• It is now possible to synchronize properties and references between AutoManager and  MicroStation V8 DGN files from within the PowerUser.Bug 19391: "No references created with Drag and Drop and Sync", RefNum IP041207093344

Office

• After synchronizing empty properties from AutoManager to a Word document the properties would be removed from the Word document if they were custom properties. These properties are now correctly set to have an empty value.

• While editing MS-Excel documents the Local Workspace synchronization would cause a warning message to appear on saving the document ("The file may have been changed by another user since you last saved it"). This issue has been resolved.
