AM-Meridian OnlyNew in AM2006: Document Purge

AutoManager implements a versioned storage for the documents where properties and content of the documents is not lost even after the document is deleted. The properties and document content are still accessible when a Vault is opened in history mode. Sometimes, for example due to legal regulations, it is required to completely remove documents when their storage period has expired, or in other words the retention date is passed. Besides financial and legal documents also engineering documents might need to be fully removed from the EDM system in case of decommissioning. At the end of the asset life cycle the assets are removed or replaced from the site. The corresponding documentation will then become obsolete and some companies might want to fully remove those documents after a certain period of time beyond the decommissioning date. In that case even engineering documents (or technical asset information) might need a retention date and full purge from the EDM system after the expiration date.

AutoManager 2006 now offers and API to purge a document from the vault.

When a document is purged, the following happens:

  1. The document is no longer visible in any client, including customized clients.
  2. All references to and from the document are removed.
  3. All the properties of the document and all its versions are deleted from the database.
  4. All stream data of the document are deleted from the file system. This includes:
    1. Document content
    2. Redlines
    3. Workflow log
    4. Data for Content Indexing
