Installing for a web browser user

Occasional users who will manage links between documents and asset objects and who prefer to use a web browser can use Meridian Enterprise Web Access. For these users, the Asset Management Module Web Access pages must also be configured as described in Creating the Web Access pages.

Note    Although only the Meridian Enterprise Web Client is installed, each user that will also use the Asset Management Module will require a license as described in Understanding the licensing.

To install the Meridian Enterprise Web Client components:

1. On each client computer, start the Meridian Enterprise setup program as described in the BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise Administrator’s Guide.

Note    Both the InstallShield setup and the Windows Installer Package (.msi) files are provided with Meridian Enterprise. The deployment options for both are described in the BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise Administrator’s Guide.

2. On the Select Components page, select the Meridian Web Client Setup option and proceed as described in the BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise Administrator’s Guide.
3. If the Meridian Enterprise vault documents use references extensively or maintenance management system users will redline the documents to initiate engineering change orders, the Enable Web Access Client components option must be enabled for each user. This can be done by each user by setting their personal preferences in Web Access. To enable the option centrally for all users, set the DownLoadDocumentWithRefs value of the following registry key to 1 on the Meridian Enterprise Web Access server:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Cyco\AutoManager Meridian\CurrentVersion\Weblink\UserPreferences\Default\

Note    This step is not necessary if only Adobe PDF documents will be viewed. The Asset Management Module will use Adobe Reader, if installed.

4. If a custom Meridian Explorer or SAP link program will be run locally as described in Installing BCSAP, install it at this time.
