Using the Pan tool

Use the Pan tool to move a file in the viewer window without changing its magnification. To pan the current view, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Pan button to activate Pan mode. You will next use the pointer to indicate both a distance and a direction.
  2. Move the pointer to a location to indicate a base point that you want to move to a new location.
  3. Press the left mouse button and drag the pointer in the direction you want to move the base point. A line will stretch from the base point to the pointer indicating the pan distance and direction.
  4. Release the mouse button at the location where you want to move the base point. The view shifts the indicated distance and direction.

You can also pan in 50-percent increments using the cursor keys on the keyboard.
