Users who will manage object-to-document and drawing tag-to-object relationships require the Meridian Enterprise PowerUser client. The Asset Management Module components that are necessary for a Meridian Enterprise PowerUser user include the following:

Asset Management Module client extensions
Display Name File Name Description

Use to configure the Asset Management Module in Meridian Enterprise Configurator. This is the only extension that is necessary to allow the maintenance management system side of the Asset Management Module to function.

Use to link the selected document to one or more objects in the Meridian Enterprise vault. Apply it to each document type that will be linked to proxy objects. If you are not sure, select all document types except the one that is used for the proxy objects.

Use to link the selected object to one or more documents in the Meridian Enterprise vault. Apply it to the document type that is used for proxy objects.

Use to quickly search for objects in the Meridian Enterprise vault (optional).

The user interface extensions are installed on client computers by Meridian Enterprise 2010 or higher whenever the Asset Management Module Extensions component is selected during Meridian Enterprise client computer setup. Thereafter, the extensions are available whenever the user opens a vault in which the Enable Asset Management Module option has been selected on the Advanced Features tab in the vault's Properties dialog box in Meridian Enterprise Administrator. For more information about installing the Meridian Enterprise client components, see the BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise Administrator's Guide.

Note    Using the Asset Management Module extensions requires a BC Asset Management Client Extension license as described in Understanding the licensing.

If AutoCAD or AutoCAD P&ID will also be used on the client computer, the Asset Management Module AutoCAD link should also be installed. The link for standard AutoCAD is installed when the AutoCAD link for any version is selected during client computer setup.

To install the Asset Management Module AutoCAD link for AutoCAD P&ID only:

  1. Install the standard AutoCAD link with one of the Meridian Enterprise client setup programs as described in the BlueCielo Meridian Asset Management Module Administrator's Guide . The link is installed by selecting the correct version of the link in the Clients | Application Links list. It will install the correct ARX file and registry settings for standard AutoCAD.
  2. Open the Windows registry and select the key for the standard AutoCAD link that was just installed. It is the application named AMAcad in the Applications branch of the AutoCAD key. Each AutoCAD version and vertical application has its own key similar to:

Where the Xs represent a release number and application code. See the ProductName value of this key for the corresponding simple application name and version number, such as AutoCAD 2009. For example, the AutoCAD setup program creates the values in the following table for AutoCAD 2009 in this registry key:

Registry key values
Name Value

"C:\\Program Files\\BC-Meridian\\Program\\AmAcad2009.arx"

"AmAcad Command Module"

  1. Export the AMAcad key to a temporary location with any file name, for example, AMAcad.reg.
  2. Open the resulting .reg file in any text editor.
  3. In the Registry Editor, use the information in step 2 to locate the Applications branch for the AutoCAD vertical application that you want to integrate with the Asset Management Module AutoCAD link.
  4. In the text editor, edit the path of the AMAcad key to match the AutoCAD release number and application code (for example, R17.2\ACAD-7001:409) of the vertical application.
  5. Copy the registry settings to create 2 keys: one branch named AMAcad to load IcAssetXXXX.arx and one branch to create a new IcAcadPnID branch to load IcAcadPnIDXXXX.arx.
  6. Save your changes to the .reg file and close the text editor.
  7. Run the .reg file to add the new branch(s) to the Applications list of your vertical application.
