Checking out documents
Checking out a document downloads a copy of the document to a location on your computer and locks the document against further editing by other users.
To check out a document:
- Open the SharePoint library that contains the document that you want to check out.
- Point to the name of the document that you want to check out until the down arrow
appears, click the down arrow, and select Check Out. The File Download dialog box appears.
- Click Save. The Save As dialog box appears with the default download folder selected.
- Accept the default location or select a different folder and click Save. A download progress dialog box appears until the download has completed.
Note By default, documents you check out from the SharePoint library are downloaded to your My Documents folder. To change the destination of the file and other settings, click Settings. For information on configuring the settings, see Configuring the BlueCielo Download Manager.
- Click Start. The file downloads and other actions may occur depending on your BlueCielo Download Manager settings. The status of the document in the Meridian Enterprise vault is changed to Quick Change.
- You may now edit the document on your local computer and check it back in again as described in Checking in documents.
