Granting content access account permissions

After you have imported the application definition file as described in Importing the application definition file, you must explicitly give the default search service account permissions to view or run the BDC entities and methods imported from the file.

To grant the content access account permissions:

  1. Open SharePoint Central Administration.
  2. In the left pane, click the name of the Shared Services Provider that you want to configure (for example, SharedServices1).
  3. In the View Application page, click Manage Permissions.
  4. Click Add Users/Group, grant the default search service account (for example, DOMAIN\MOSS.Search) the Run and Select in Clients permissions. Click Save to commit the changes.
  5. In the Manage Permissions page, select the default search service account, and click Copy all permissions to descendants.
