New in AM2004b: Clients

Revisioning

'Create New Version' command

The 'Create New Version' command has been added to the 'Document' menu. This command is identical to the 'Replace Document' command that is still available in the 'Edit' menu.

Some background on this issue:

In AutoManager you can have both 'versions' and 'revisions' of your documents.

Each time a document is released, a new 'Revision' of the document is stored. Only one instance of the document is visible, but all information about older revisions is maintained as history information of the vault.

In other cases it might be preferred to create a new 'Version' of a document, while maintaining the original document. This is done using the 'Replace' command. This creates a copy of the document, while maintaining a reference to the original document.

Because the 'Version' approach is preferred by many users, it is now explicitly available in the 'Document' menu as the 'Create New Version' command.

Usability

'Change Document Type' command

The 'Change Document Type' command could not be invoked on locked documents. The client will now implicitly unlock a document when the 'Change Document Type' command is invoked.

AM-Meridian Only Hybrid documents

When changing a Document Type to 'Hybrid', existing documents will not be converted to hybrid documents automatically. You will not be able to attach any parts to these documents.

In AM2004b, you can convert individual documents to hybrid from the 'Advanced Document Information' dialog. Also, documents will be converted to Hybrid when their Document Type is changed to a hybrid Document Type.

AM-Meridian Only Creating Hybrid components

When adding a document as a component to a Hybrid document by drag-and-drop, the context menu showing the available choices (Attach as Hybrid Part, Replace Document contents, etc) is now shown also when drag-and-dropping a document from within the current vault.

Other Issues

Navigation Views

In some situations, Navigation Views would contain too many instances of the "<No Value>" folder. This problem has been resolved.

"Access denied" message on selecting a document

Users without the privilege to view redline information, might have experienced unwarranted "Access denied" messages. This problem has been corrected.
