Licensing changes

Numerous changes have been made to the types of licenses and how they are claimed by the BlueCielo license server. These changes were made to accommodate the new and improved features of BlueCielo 2009.

New licenses

The following new licenses are available for BlueCielo:

• Office Web Client: claimed by Web Access (Meridian only). Includes Oracle AutoVue 2D Professional.
• Power Web Client: claimed by CAD application links and Application Integration (Meridian only). Includes Oracle AutoVue 2D Professional.
• AutoVue 3D Professional Advanced: Optional. Claimed by PowerUser and Office Client (Meridian only). See "New in BlueCielo 2009: Client improvements."
• Transmittal Management Server: claimed by Transmittal Management module (one license per EDM Server)
• Transmittal Management Client: claimed by PowerUser and Office Client with Transmittal Management module (Meridian only). May be reserved for document control center users.

Obsolete licenses

The following licenses are no longer supported by BlueCielo.

• Netviewer: Enabled document viewing in Web Access. Customers can upgrade to Office Web Client licenses.
• Advanced Viewer: Enabled the Rasterex viewer for MicroStation drawings. Customers can upgrade to Advanced 3D Viewer or BlueCielo View licenses. See "New in BlueCielo 2009: Client improvements."

Web Access licenses

Web Access in Basic mode will only claim a database connection license (no change) and viewing and reference functionality is not available. Web Access in Office Web Client mode will claim an Office Web Client license and a database connection license.

Offline mode licenses

When working online, the CAD application links will claim a PowerUser and a database connection license (no change). When working offline, the CAD application links will claim a Power Web Client license.

License server

The BlueCielo license server will automatically release a "lower" license when a "higher" license is claimed by the same user to prevent multiple licenses from being claimed. For example, if a user starts a Web Access session in Office Web Client mode, they claim an Office Web Client license. If the user then downloads a document and opens it in an application that activates a CAD application link, a Power Web Client license is claimed and the Office Web Client license is released.

The license server will automatically substitute "higher" licenses if the requested "lower" license is not available:

• Office Web Client licenses can be substituted by Office Client licenses
• Office Client Licenses can be substituted by PowerUser licenses
• Power Web Client license can be substituted by PowerUser licenses.

This makes it possible for customers to use the new remote CAD application links functionality with existing licenses.
