The vault configuration sets the following document retention properties when a document is archived. The retention properties are cleared when the document is restored from the archive.

The date that the document was archived. Archived documents can be found by searching by this property with the Is not empty condition. |

_RETENTIONMODIFIEDBY |
The name of the user that archived the document. |

_EXPERATIONDATE |
The date that the retention expires. The default is dependent on the type of document and the reason that it was archived. |
A project can be archived after all documents have been released or archived. The project folder information is automatically copied to the archive when the project folder is deleted.
Two tasks are scheduled for automatic cleanup of the Archive branch of the vault. A stand-alone tool named BCRetentionBrowser automatically deletes documents after the retention period. The retention period can be configured per document type group and the reason for archival.

Documents in the vault that have been deleted can be automatically purged after a predefined period using the stand-alone tool named BCHistoryBrowser.
