Appendix B: Dex.exe command line parameters

Dex.exe supports a command line parameter that makes it possible to start Dex.exe in a variety of ways depending on your needs. You can use the parameter together with the publishing job execution options described in Executing a publishing job.

Note Dex.exe must run under a specific user account and does not run as a service. To avoid having to manually start Dex.exe after a computer restart, configure Dex.exe as a scheduled task as described in Executing a publishing job.

Tip    In the following description, you can start Dex.exe with a command line or a batch file (to also perform other actions) even though only the command line is shown.

The Dex.exe command-line parameter is described in the following table.

Dex.exe command line parameter
Parameter Name Description

<JobCode>

Starts Dex.exe and executes the specified publishing job immediately. This parameter is useful when you want to schedule a publishing job to execute using the Windows Task Scheduler. When the publishing job is finished, Dex.exe will terminate. If no publishing job with the specified name can be found, Dex.exe will terminate with an error .

Example command line:

"C:\Program Files\BlueCielo Publisher\Dex.exe" "45E2E0"

/user

Starts Dex.exe in user mode to monitor results.

Example command line:

"C:\Program Files\BlueCielo Publisher\Dex.exe" "45E2E0" /user
