Configuring the Office rendering module options

The Office rendering options specify how to render each Office file format, how to run the Office applications, and options for the output file.

Note    Use of Microsoft Office 2007 requires installation of the 2007 Microsoft Office Add-in: Microsoft Save as PDF.

Note    When this rendering module is run on Windows Server 2008, an additional requirement is necessary for compatibility with the Office interop components. Create one of the following folders and grant Write permission to it for the account that runs the publishing job. Create the folder that corresponds to the operating system, 32-bit or 64-bit.

To configure the Office rendering options:

  1. In BlueCielo Application Manager, expand the name of the publishing job in the configuration tree that you want to configure.
  2. Select the Configuration branch in the configuration tree. The job's configuration pages appear in the right pane.
  3. Click the Rendition tab. The Rendition configuration page appears.
  4. Select Microsoft Office and click Options. The Office Rendering Options dialog appears.
  5. Select or enter options using the descriptions in the following tables. After setting options on the General page, configure the rendering options for the applicable Office applications by clicking the corresponding tab.
General options
Option Description

File extensions

A semicolon-delimited (;) list of source file extensions to be rendered by this module.

To modify the list:

  1. Click Change. The Associate a file type dialog appears.
  2. Select the file extensions that you want to be rendered by Office.
  3. Click Close. The list is refreshed to show your selections.

Timeout

The number of seconds for the rendering module to wait for Office to complete rendering before the publishing job is stopped and the Office process terminated. A timeout can occur if there is a data error in the source document.

MS Word options
Option Description

Pages

Select an option to specify which pages to render.

Render markup

Renders Word comments, ink, insertions, deletions, formatting changes, and highlighting in the output file.

Create bookmarks using

Adds bookmarks to the Bookmarks navigation panel in Adobe Reader using Word heading styles or bookmarks.

Document properties

Adds the current document property values to the corresponding properties of the output file.

Document structure tags for accessibility

Adds non-visible tags to the output file that improve readability of the document for users of assistive software or mobile devices.

ISO 19005-1 compliant

Adds all information (for example, fonts) to the output file that is necessary to display the document in the same way at any time in the future. Excludes information (for example, audio, video, JavaScript, encryption, non-standard metadata) that relies on external sources.

Rasterize text when fonts may not be embedded

Converts text to images if the fonts cannot be embedded due to licensing or other external dependencies.

Disable macros

Disables execution of Word macros during rendering.

Run Word interactively

Shows the Word user interface during rendering for monitoring or troubleshooting. If disabled, Word runs invisibly in the background.

Option Description

Pages

Select an option to specify which pages to render.

Source

Select an option to specify the scope of the pages to render.

Ignore print areas

Ignores print areas that may be set in worksheets and renders all available data instead.

Document properties

Adds the current document property values to the corresponding properties of the output file.

Document structure tags for accessibility

Adds non-visible tags to the output file that improve readability of the document for users of assistive software or mobile devices.

ISO 19005-1 compliant

Adds all information (for example, fonts) to the output file that is necessary to display the document in the same way at any time in the future. Excludes information (for example, audio, video, JavaScript, encryption, non-standard metadata) that relies on external sources.

Disable macros

Disables execution of Excel macros during rendering.

Run Excel interactively

Shows the Excel user interface during rendering for monitoring or troubleshooting. If disabled, Excel runs invisibly in the background.

MS PowerPoint options
Option Description

Slides

Select an option to specify which slides to render.

Source

Select an option to specify the scope of the slides to render.

Slides per page

Select the number of slides to render to each page in the output file.

Frame slides

Renders a hairline border around each slide in the output file.

Orientation

Select the orientation of slides in the output file.

Include hidden slides

Renders hidden slides in the output file.

Include comments and ink markup

Renders PowerPoint comments, ink, insertions, deletions, formatting changes, and highlighting in the output file.

Document properties

Adds the current document property values to the corresponding properties of the output file.

Document structure tags for accessibility

Adds non-visible tags to the output file that improve readability of the document for users of assistive software or mobile devices.

Render all colors to black

Select this option if the output file will typically be printed on a monochrome printer or for greater visibility.

Include background

Renders background color or images in the output file.

Document properties

Adds the current document property values to the corresponding properties of the output file.

Document structure tags for accessibility

Adds non-visible tags to the output file that improve readability of the document for users of assistive software or mobile devices.

Adds all information (for example, fonts) to the output file that is necessary to display the document in the same way at any time in the future. Excludes information (for example, audio, video, JavaScript, encryption, non-standard metadata) that relies on external sources.

Disable events

Disables execution of Visio event handlers during rendering.

Run Visio interactively

Shows the Visio user interface during rendering for monitoring or troubleshooting. If disabled, Visio runs invisibly in the background.

  1. Click OK to save your rendering options.
  2. Click to save the configuration changes.
