Viewing files

You can easily view the files that are attached to a document. Project Portal supports three methods that depend on the type of the file:

• Within Project Portal – Any file type that can be viewed directly by your web browser: plain text, HTML, and web-compatible image files.
• Native application – Any file type that cannot be viewed directly by your web browser will download to your computer and open in the Windows application that is registered for the file type.
• CADViewer – Any file type that is supported by CADViewer. This can be useful if you do not have the native application installed or if viewing the file in CADViewer is easier than with the native application. For information about using CADViewer, see the CADViewer User Guide.

Before you begin

To perform this task, you must be the owner of the document or a member of an access group that has been assigned an access profile with the View permission for files.

To view files:

1. In the document list, click the arrow next to the filename that you want to view. The File actions menu appears.

2. Click View file. The file either opens in your browser (supported file types) or the file downloads to your computer and opens in the Windows application that is registered for the file type.

   OR

   Click Open in Viewer. The file opens in CADViewer.
