In the standard Project Portal configuration, an end-to-end security mechanism called Secure Socket Layer/Transport Layer Security (SSL/TLS) is used to provide network traffic confidentiality. All network traffic being transmitted between the user's browser and the Project Portal installation is encrypted using the SSL/TLS protocol. Only connections with strong encryption1 Cipher suites with asymmetric key length of at least 1024 bits and symmetric key length of at least 128 bits. are allowed by default.
Project Portal provides a built-in strong network encryption mechanism that is compatible with organizational network layer Virtual Private Network (VPN) solutions. A VPN solution can be used in place of or in addition to the Project Portal SSL/TLS encryption.
