Changing personal properties

Your personal properties determine how you appear to other users in Meridian Project Portal, where you receive notifications, the groups you are a member of, and your logon credentials.

Note    You cannot change your personal properties in systems that use LDAP or Active Directory; your personal information is not managed in Project Portal.

To change your personal properties:

  1. Click your user name in the upper left corner of the top pane. The Workspace User <YourUserName> page appears.
  2. Click options or type values using the descriptions in the following table.
Personal properties
Option Description

Username

Your account name as created by a system administrator.

First names

Your first and middle names.

Last name

Your last name.

Address

Your postal address.

Email

Your email address.

Organization

Select a value from the list. Consult a system administrator if your organization is not listed.

Default group

Select your default user group.

Note    Your default group does not influence the basic Project Portal functionality.

Password

Your logon password. Confirm the password in Again.

Note

  • You do not have to type the password if you are changing other properties, for example, your email address. The Password fields are used for changing the password only.
  • Project Portal passwords are case-sensitive.
  1. Click Save user.

When changing an existing password, Project Portal does some basic verification to ensure the quality of your password. The purpose of this is to ensure higher information security in your organization and to prevent possible attackers from guessing the most obvious of passwords.

The checks Project Portal makes are statistical in nature and examine the password character distributions. If a password is weak, Project Portal shows an error message and the password is not changed. This functionality does not check the old password. It only applies when passwords are changed or new ones created.
