Handing over to Meridian Enterprise

A Project Portal workspace folder can be linked to a corresponding folder in a Meridian Enterprise vault. The link is created by a Meridian Enterprise user. This is so that you can collaborate on documents with Meridian Enterprise users. Changes made to the documents in one system are synchronized to the other system on a periodic basis, typically nightly. The vault can be located at the same site as Project Portal or it can be geographically remote. The documents can originate in either system and are automatically copied to the other system by the optional Meridian Global Collaboration Framework (GCF), which must be installed and configured in Meridian Enterprise.

The documents being collaborated on can only be owned by one of the systems at a time, they will appear locked in the other system. Typically, all of the documents in the same folder will be owned by the same system, at least initially. Thereafter, ownership of individual documents can be passed to the other system so that users of that system can make changes to the documents. In Meridian Project Portal, this process is called handing over and can be accomplished with the Hand Over command.

Note    The Hand Over command is only visible if the Meridian integration is enabled in Meridian Project Portal. For more information about how your Project Portal system is linked to Meridian Enterprise, consult a system administrator.
