Working with documents in Microsoft Office

When ProjectForce is integrated with Microsoft Office, the most common ProjectForce commands are conveniently accessible from within these Office applications: Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Using this integration, you can perform the actions without having to open ProjectForce:

ProjectForce can also be integrated with Microsoft Office Outlook. However, the integration is slightly different and is described separately in Working with messages in Microsoft Outlook.

The ProjectForce commands within the Office applications can be found on the ProjectForce menu and in the ProjectForce toolbar.

Note    In the Office 2007 and later versions , the ProjectForce menu can be found in the Menu Commands group in the Add-Ins panel of the Office Ribbon.

Most commands can be found in both places. The following table lists the ProjectForce commands available within the Office applications and their function.

Microsoft Office Ribbon button descriptions

Button	Command	Description
	New Document	Creates a new document in the ProjectForce library from a template.
	Open	Opens a document from the ProjectForce library.
	Import	Imports the current file into the ProjectForce library.
	Import In Folder	Imports the current file into a folder that you select in the ProjectForce library.
	Check In	Checks the selected document in to the ProjectForce library, increments the minor revision number, and removes the local file.
	Save	Saves the selected document to the ProjectForce library and increments the minor revision number.
	Release	Approves the current revision and increments the major revision number.
None	Fill Custom Properties	Shows the ProjectForce Custom Document Properties dialog where you can type property values.
	Cancel Check Out	Changes the library status of the document to Checked In, and deletes the local file. The revision number is not changed.
	Properties	Displays the selected document’s properties for editing.
None	About	Displays the ProjectForce integration version information.
