Opening a drawing from ProjectForce
Use the Open command to open an existing drawing from a ProjectForce library. The drawing will be checked out to you and temporarily copied to a pre-configured local workspace folder, for example, C:\workspace\checkout. For information on configuring this location, see Configuring personal preferences.
When you are finished making changes, you can check the drawing back into the library as a new revision. This command will also allow you to open a copy of the drawing (without checking it out) in order to edit it to become a different drawing.
To open a drawing from ProjectForce in a CAD application:
- In one of the following:
-
BC ProjectForce menu
-
BC ProjectForce tool box
-
BC ProjectForce panel in the Ribbon
Click Open
. The Open File dialog box appears, similar to the following figure.
- Navigate to the drawing that you want to open and select it.
- If you only want to open a copy of the drawing and not check it out, enable Open as copy.
- Click Open. If the drawing was not already checked out to you, it will be checked out before it is opened. If the selected drawing has external references, those drawings are also copied to your Checkout folder so that they can be shown correctly in the open drawing but they are not checked out. You must explicitly check them out to edit them.
