Importing documents

Importing in a document with Application Integration happens when you have a file open in a Windows application that does not reside in the library, you use the Save or Save As command, and complete the action using the Application Integration dialog. Importing a document with Application Integration performs the following actions:

To import a document with Application Integration:

  1. From within the Windows application with the document open, on the File menu select Save or Save As. By default, the Application Integration dialog box appears as shown in Working with documents in Application Integration. A file filter is applied to the Application Integration document list pane to show only those files that match the current value of File Name. To see the existing documents in the library, click the Show Files button . To apply a different file filter, select a different filter from the list.
  1. Browse to the location in the library where you want to import the document.
  2. Type a name for the document in File Name and click Save. The ProjectForce Add Wizard appears. Continue as described in Importing documents into ProjectForce.
  3. Close the document in the Windows application. The document is not checked out to you, it is read-only, and any changes that you make will not be saved in the library.

You may continue to work on the document after you check it out as described in Checking out documents.
