Importing a drawing into ProjectForce
Use the Save as new command to add the current drawing to an ProjectForce library that does not contain it already. After the drawing has been imported, you can check it out to make changes. When you are finished making changes, you can check it back into the library as a new revision.
Note A new drawing must be saved somewhere outside the library first before it can be imported into a library.
Note If the current drawing has attachments to external reference drawings or raster images outside the library, they will also be imported into the library to manage the attached drawings and to maintain the relationships between the drawings.
To import a drawing to ProjectForce:
- In one of the following:
-
BC
ProjectForce menu
-
BC
ProjectForce tool box
- BC ProjectForce panel in the Ribbon
Click Save as new
. If the current drawing has not yet been saved outside the library, the CAD application's Save As dialog box appears. Save the drawing to an appropriate location. The drawing is saved in the location that you selected and then the ProjectForce Save dialog box appears, similar to the following figure.
- Navigate to the folder in the library where you want to save the drawing.
- Type the drawing title in Title.
- Select the appropriate document class from Documentclass.
- Enable Show Documents to see the documents that already exist in the selected folder.
- Click Save. The Add Wizard (Step 1 of 2) dialog box appears, similar to the following figure.
- Confirm or correct the displayed property values. These properties will be applied to the imported drawing and all of its external references.
- If you want to keep the original copy of the drawing, enable Keep local copy.
- Enable Show property dialog to view or edit additional property values before the document is added. If you are importing multiple documents, the Properties dialog is displayed for each document so that you can set the documents’ properties individually.
- Click Next to proceed. The Add Wizard (Step 2 of 2) page will appear, similar to the following figure.
- Confirm that all of the icons in the A column indicate that the actions listed in the Action column can be completed. If you do not want an action to be performed, select another action from the Action list.
- If any of the documents being imported has external references that are also being imported and the external references already exist in the library, the library copies will be overwritten with the imported copies unless you intervene. If the external references were not also checked out to you and you do not want them to be overwritten:
- Select the external reference and click the Find in Library button. A Select Document dialog will appear.
- Select the document that you want to link to the external reference’s parent document and click the OK button. The action for the external reference will change to Link to indicate that it will not be imported. ProjectForce will link the external reference’s parent document to the library copy instead of importing the external reference.
- When you are satisfied with all of the actions to be performed, click Finish. If you enabled Show property dialog, the Properties dialog box appears for the first of the drawings to import, similar to the following figure. Otherwise, the drawings are checked in and the process is complete.
- Confirm or correct the displayed property values and Click OK to save your changes. If you click Cancel, the import operation will be canceled. If more than one drawing is being imported, the Properties dialog for the next drawing appears, similar to the preceding figure. Repeat this step until you have confirmed the properties of all drawings to be imported. When you have completed all the confirmations, the drawings are checked in and the process is complete.
