Executing a simple search

A simple search allows you to quickly search for documents using a simple set of predefined criteria and conditions.

To run a simple search:

  1. Click Document Search in the Navigation pane. The Document Search tabs appear.
  2. Click the Simple tab. The Simple search tab appears, similar to the following figure.

  1. Select the library that you want to search from the Search In list.
  2. To restrict the search to the contents of a single folder and its sub-folders, click the folder button and select a folder.
  3. Select or type one or more search criteria in the properties in the Simple find group. The default criteria are:
Simple search options

Criterion

Description

Title contains

All or part of the document title

Document contains

Words that appear in the document content

Document class

Documents of a certain type, for example, Drawing or Correspondence

Document ID

The unique ID of a document

Added by

The name of the person who placed the document in the library

Current version author

The name of the person who checked in the current revision

  1. Type the maximum number of documents to display in the search results in Maximum returned.
  2. Click the Find button to run the search.
