Testing the license server

When the ProjectForce license server service is running on a computer other than the ProjectForce application server, it can be useful sometimes to test communications between them after:

• Initial installation
• Adding or changing licenses
• Upgrading the hardware or operating system of one of the servers
• Upgrading ProjectForce
• Problems opening a library from client computers arise

Before you begin

You will need to know a valid BlueCielo product code for licenses that are registered in the license server. The product code can be calculated from the second element of a license code. For example, the product code from license code 005.PF-PURNFS001-1EE92.90000797 is PF-PUR92.

To test the license server:

1. In ProjectForce running on a computer where the BlueCielo Administrator has been installed, click BlueCielo Administrator in the Navigation pane. The License Management node appears in the navigation view.
2. Select the License Management node in the left pane. The current license manager settings and options appear in the right pane.
3. On the License Manager page, type a BlueCielo product code in Productcode and click Validate. If valid licenses are registered in the license server, the text Validated will appear for Answer. Otherwise, the text NoLicense will appear.
