Client improvements

The following improvements have been made to the Meridian Enterprise client applications:

  • If configured by a system administrator, the copy of the transmittal report of a briefcase that is stored in the vault now has outgoing references to the briefcase source documents.
  • Multiple drawing sheets in the same AutoCAD file are now supported by title block synchronization. A new system property page named Title Blocks appears in PowerUser and the Meridian Web Client (read-only). This page allows users to edit the title block properties independently for each layout.
  • A new system property page Retention is provided that shows the document retention system properties.
  • A new command Convert to Hybrid has been added to the PowerUser and the Meridian Web Client. It converts selected documents into parts of new hybrid main documents made from a selected template.
  • The look and feel of the Meridian Web Client has been improved and updated to be more consistent with current web application technology. The logo in the context bar may be configured.
  • Multiple references of the same type between MicroStation drawings and raster images are now prevented. References of the MicroStation Raster Reference type are no longer converted to the MicroStation Model Reference type when the drawing is saved in MicroStation.
  • Properties that are configured to appear in the Application Integration Open dialog box now also appear when the link is in Remote mode.
  • A check box has been added to the dialog box that is shown when a user attempts to navigate to a document that cannot be found in the scope of the current navigation view. Selecting the checkbox disables the dialog box in the future and the view is automatically set to the Explorer view. A new registry value named DisableNotFoundMessage has been added that can be used to reset the checkbox.
  • A new option Enable filtering has been added to the Manage Links dialog box when the Meridian Asset Management Module and the Meridian Advanced Project Workflow Module are enabled for a vault. If enabled, this option filters the document and object search results using the property filters that are defined in the navigation view that specifies the columns to show in the Meridian Asset Management Module user interface. For information on configuring this option, see the Meridian Asset Management Module Administrator’s Guide.
  • The Meridian Asset Management Module now allows links to be made between tag objects and released documents that are currently in a workflow. Previously, the workflow prevented making links.
  • The Meridian Web Client now supports drag-and-drop for importing files.
  • A new dialog box Text Tags has been added to the Objects property page in PowerUser and the Meridian Web Client. When the Meridian Asset Management Module is enabled for the vault and a regular expression is specified for the new Text Tag Search option (see Configuration improvements), this dialog box becomes available and can be used to show the matching asset tag IDs in the full-text index of the selected document. This dialog box works similar to the existing Drawing Tags dialog box that shows the asset tags found in AutoCAD block attributes.
  • A new command Open has been added to the document and selection shortcut menus in the Meridian Web Client. The command downloads the selected documents and opens them in the registered Windows application similar to the PowerUser client.
  • Internet Explorer 9, 10, and 11 no longer require Compatibility View mode.
  • Application Integration running in Remote mode now uses the user’s name as the local workspace folder name instead of the To-Do list name if the names are different. No changes were made to the local workspace folder names in Online mode. This makes working in Remote mode compatible with working in Online mode and the Meridian Web Client. Previously, switching between Remote mode and the Meridian Web Client could result in two local workspaces for the same user if their user name and the To-Do list name were different. This scenario was not supported. This change can cause local workspace inconsistencies if multiple users are configured to the same To-Do list.

Warning    If any user names and their corresponding To-Do list names are different and the users use Remote mode, copy or move the local workspace files from the local workspace folder with the To-Do list name to the local workspace folder with the user name. Failure to do so could result in lost changes to documents in progress.

  • A new Welcome page is shown at the start of a Meridian Web Client session for vault selection. The page shows the last opened vault and lists the three most used vaults. The logo and text on the Welcome page may be configured.
  • The Application Integration dialog box now shows a text description in the properties panel of the status of the selected document.
  • The error An unexpected error occurred no longer appears when a port number is specified for the Enterprise Server web address option.
  • False errors stating The vault cannot be opened to a future date and time could occur rarely.
  • The document icon on the Document property page in PowerUser incorrectly showed the rendition as out of date if the Modified date equaled the Rendition updated date. The icon now shows the rendition as up-to-date.
