Administration improvements

The following improvements have been made to the administration of Meridian Enterprise:

  • All Local Workspace documents for a single user in a single vault can now be unlocked in one operation.
  • A Check Name button has been added to the Meridian user account dialog box so that Windows user accounts can be validated.
  • The columns that are shown in Meridian Enterprise Administrator for user accounts now include the Mail, Title, Unit, and Initials properties.
  • A new registry setting EnableFQDNS has been added that removes the dependency on NetBIOS for computer name resolution. The setting is disabled by default.

Warning    By default, each user's local workspace folder structure contains the Meridian server's NetBIOS name, for example, C:\BC-WorkSpace\<UserName>\M-<ComputerName>,D-<DatastoreName>. When this setting is enabled, new local workspace folders will be created with the server's fully-qualified domain name, for example, C:\BC-WorkSpace\<UserName>\M-<ComputerName.DomainName>,D-<DatastoreName> and the existing local workspace files will not be copied to the new folders. Instead, new copies will be made in the new folders from the server as necessary. Therefore, this setting should only be enabled after business hours and after all user local workspaces have been synchronized to the server. The local workspaces should also be deleted to prevent users from accidentally making changes to the files in the wrong folder.

  • New registry values DisableTitleBlockUpdate have been added to the Excel, PowerPoint, and Word application links to control when property synchronization occurs automatically.
  • If the Use HyperCache option of a vault is enabled , the Maximum log size and Minimum snapshot interval options are no longer disabled. On 64-bit computers, HyperCache was not enabled by default. BlueCielo Publisher support can now be enabled in a vault similar to the Advanced Project Workflow Module and Asset Management Module. The PowerUser client extension no longer needs to be downloaded from the server. BlueCielo Publisher licenses are still required.
  • AMRepU.exe now produces a separate report for 32-bit and 64-bit components. On 64-bit platforms, both reports are generated since 32-bit components are also installed.
  • The Link to Master Document, Unlink from Master Document, Require Merge, Confirm Superseded by Master, Confirm Merged with Master, and Undo Make Obsolete commands are now included in the Meridian FDA Module audit log.
  • Web Access users who execute the Release as Master Revision command require Full Control permissions to the local workspace folder on the IIS server. They also require the Edit in Application privilege for the folder in which the master document resides.
  • The following is a new registry key that includes a new DWORD value named NodesMask. The value can be set to show some or all of the branches in the Meridian Enterprise Administrator utility. This is so that responsibility for maintaining the data in each branch can be delegated to different users without giving them access to other branches.

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cyco\AutoManager Meridian\CurrentVersion\AMAdmin
  • The ADSynce.exe tool has ben improved:
    • Multiple Active Directory groups can be synchronized with a single Meridian group.
    • The Active Directory and pre-Windows 2000 group name no longer need to be identical.
    • Group names are now sorted alphabetically.
