Creating a briefcases database template

A briefcase database template is used by Meridian to store briefcase metadata in the briefcase.

Note
  • This feature is not supported by Meridian 64-bit versions. Document metadata that is created in open standard formats using a Meridian 64-bit version is stored in XML format by default. This format is used because creating Access format files outside of Microsoft Access is not supported by Windows 64-bit versions.
  • To use the Microsoft Access format with 32-bit versions, set the BriefCaseOpenFormat value of the following registry key to .mdb:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Cyco\AutoManager Meridian\CurrentVersion\Client\Settings

Without this setting, the template export button is hidden in the following task .

To create a briefcase database template:

  1. Create a new empty briefcase as described in the BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise User’s Guide.
  2. Click the Export DB Template button to save the database to a shared location specified in the briefcase template’s definition.
  3. Customize the database by adding forms or properties as required. Properties defined in the database template, but not defined in the briefcase template’s PropertyMappings section, are ignored.
