Using work areas in manufacturing environments

In manufacturing, it is not uncommon for various parts of an assembly to be under change by different users at the same time. Therefore, ensuring that the released version of the assembly references the correct parts is critical. Since document references cannot be resolved across work areas, the following guidelines should be followed in manufacturing environments:

• If possible, avoid using work areas.
• If work areas must be used, only one work area should be active.
• If multiple work areas are already in use, modeling software may be incorporated into the environment if the parts and assemblies remain in the Main area, with only the drawing files being manipulated in the work areas.
