BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise 2018 Release Notes

Client improvements

The following improvements have been made to the Meridian Enterprise client applications:

  • The Title Blocks property page of documents that is enabled by the Multiple layout title blocks support option that was added in Meridian Enterprise 2014 SP1 was read-only in the Meridian Web Client. The page can now be edited in the Meridian Web Client this version.
  • Deleting a project copy of a document now unlocks the master document from which it was made, which is more similar to discarding the project copy from the project folder. The important difference between the two actions remains, however. Deleting a project copy breaks its incoming references whereas, depending on the configuration, discarding the project copy can reroute its incoming references to the master document and maintain the referential integrity of the related documents.
  • The Meridian Web Client now shows a modern, calendar type data picker with the same locale as property pages.
  • The shared workspace options of folders may now be edited in the Meridian Web Client.
  • Meridian Asset Management Module objects can now be linked and unlinked in the Meridian Web Client using the text tags feature similar to the way it is possible in PowerUser.
  • Creating references in the Meridian Web Client is now easier and searching for the destination documents is no longer required.
  • Two users opening the same vault, in the same scope, with the same navigation view no longer generates the error IC Meridian Object Manager: Cannot set attribute 'AMNavigationViewPropertySet._SEARCHAREA'. ; The object is currently being edited by another session if the Remember user name option is enabled on the Authentication page of the Vault Settings branch of the Environment section of the vault in Configurator.
  • The Meridian Web Client now supports an improved navigation tree. The new tree can be enabled by adding the setting GridTree=1 in the first section of the user's .prf file in the C:\inetpub\AMM\Profiles folder on the web server. The profile files have globally unique filenames like S-1-5-21-247412457-1281538329-1571014584-4234.prf. The profile file for a particular user can be identified by making a change to one of the user's preference settings as described in the BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise User's Guide and then matching the file modification time shown in Windows Explorer. This setting is temporary and the new tree may become the default in a future release.
  • A new property page Enterprise Server Packages is available for documents in PowerUser and the Meridian Web Client. It lists the packages that have been exported from the Meridian Explorer repository that contain the selected document.
  • A new setting CreateProjectCopyForRetired has been added to the vault configuration that when enabled, allows project copies to be made from retired documents.
  • A Meridian Explorer Comments page configured to show as an external property page in Meridian Enterprise did not show the viewer window when the page was viewed in the Meridian Web Client.
  • The new Meridian Web Client property pages for the Meridian Asset Management Module that are described in Customization improvements require that frames be disabled in the Meridian Web Client. Otherwise, some features may not work or will generate errors. Frames can be disabled with the UseFrames setting described in the BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise Administrator's Guide. It's highly likely that future functionality will also not support frames. For this reason, frames should be considered obsolete and users should not rely on them.
