Multithreaded database engines

BlueCielo is pleased to announce that the Meridian Enterprise database engines have been further optimized for improved scalability in enterprise deployments. All three of the database engines: Hypertrieve, SQL Server, and Oracle have been programmed to take advantage of multithreading on computers with multiple 64-bit CPUs and when Meridian Enterprise HyperCache is enabled. The new engines are not available for 32-bit computers or for older versions of Meridian Enterprise.

The names of the new engines are:

The new database engines can be selected when creating new vaults. Existing vaults are not upgraded automatically but can be migrated to the latest engine as described in the BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise Administrator's Guide.

Note    If you attempt to restore a vault immediately after the EDM Server service is started, an error can occur that says, Unable to restore backup at '<PathToDataStore.ini>' on computer '<ComputerName>'. An error was reported by the database driver. ; Exclusive access could not be obtained because the database is in use. This is due to SQL Server waiting for the database connections to expire. To work around this issue, wait at least one minute before attempting to restore the vault. This can occur for vaults that are hosted on SQL Server only. BlueCielo is developing a solution that may be released in a future version or service pack.
