Understanding VBScript and Web Access

Not all VBScript functions are available to Web Access since the Web Access executables run as processes on the Meridian web server, not on the client computer:

• All VBScript functions that interact with the user (for example, WinMsgBox)
• All events for actions that execute on the client computer, like OpenInApplication
• Most of the methods of the Client object
• Global variables. Use object arguments instead as described in Understanding object arguments.

Notes

• The values of checkboxes and radio buttons on Web Access pages are sent to the web server only if they are selected (Tru). Meridian Enterprise Boolean properties that have not been explicitly set to either True or False contain no value. For these reasons, we recommend that you always test the values of Boolean properties for True and never for False whether the script is for Web Access or not.
• A script that is not compatible with Web Access will not generate an error message, but the script will not work. Thoroughly test all VBScript configuration expressions and event procedures that might be invoked by Web Access.
