Viewing document history

A document's history lists the actions that have been performed on a document. The following actions are recorded in history:

If you perform two consecutive actions of the same type, only one is listed (for example, viewing document properties twice in succession). History is saved for each document version separately and can be viewed as described in Viewing prior versions.

To view document history:

  1. Open the property page of the document as described in Viewing and editing document properties.
  2. In the General section header, click History. A page listing the base properties and document history appears. The action history is shown under the Document change history section header. The actions for each revision are listed separately. Each action includes the date and time that the action was performed and the name of the user who performed the action.
