Updating existing files
Checking out and checking in files to modify them creates a new revision. Sometimes, you might need to update a file without creating a new revision. You can update existing files without creating a new revision using the following procedure.
To update an existing file:
- If you want to first edit the current revision that resides in Kronodoc, perform the following steps. Otherwise, skip to step 2.
- Open the file on your computer (not in CADViewer) by viewing it as described in Viewing files. The file is opened read-only in the application registered in Windows for the file type.
- Save the file temporarily to your computer but do not change the name of the file. The file becomes read-write.
- Edit the file as necessary and save your changes.
- Upload the file as described in Adding files to documents. Because the filename has not changed, after the file has been uploaded, a confirmation page appears with the text WARNING: The file(s) "<FileName>" already exist(s) in document. Do you want to replace the files?.
- Click Replace files to update the existing file in Kronodoc. Click Upload to new version to create a new document version and upload the file to it as described in Creating a new version.
Note The Upload to new version button is not displayed if:
- The file is not being uploaded for the latest document version.
- The user does not have sufficient rights to create a document in the current folder.
