Checking out documents

Checking out a document with Application Integration happens when you use a Windows application's Open command and complete the action using the Application Integration dialog. Opening a document from the ImandrA vault with Application Integration performs the following actions:

To open a document with Application Integration:

  1. From within the Windows application with which you want to edit the document, on the File menu, select Open. By default, the Application Integration dialog appears as shown in Working with documents in Application Integration.

If the Default Behavior option is set to Always Show Standard File Dialog, the application's normal dialog appears.

  1. To close the application's normal dialog and open the Application Integration dialog, click the ImandrA vault toolbutton .

  1. To close the Application Integration dialog, open the application's normal file dialog, and select a document from a location other than the vault, click the Local File System toolbutton .
  2. Select a view from the toolbar or browse the folder structure in the Navigation view to locate the document that you want to open.

The following table describes the view toolbuttons.

View toolbutton descriptions
Toolbutton Description

Opens the Favorites folder. For information about creating favorites, see Creating favorites in ImandrA.

Opens the Most Recent Used folder that contains the documents that you have used most recently.

Opens the Checked out documents folder that contains the documents that are already checked out to you.

  1. By default, a file filter is applied to the Application Integration document list pane to show only those file types that are registered in Windows for the application that you are using. To apply a different file filter or to view all file types, select a different filter from the list.
  2. Select the document that you want to open.
  3. If you will not edit the document in the application, for example, to only view or print it, select the Open as Copy option.
  4. Click Open. The document opens in the Windows application.
