Assigning access levels to folders

By default, new folders are assigned the same security access levels as their parent folders. But you can assign different access levels as necessary to control access to documents.

To assign security levels to a folder:

  1. Right-click a folder for which you want to assign security and select Properties. Its Properties dialog appears.
  2. Click the Security tab. The Security tab appears similar to the following figure showing the folder’s current access levels.

  1. To assign security to a group of users, enable Groups. To assign security to a single user, enable Users.
  2. Select the name of the user or group from the Name list.
  3. Select an access level from the Access Level list.
  4. Click the Add New User or Group button . The new access level assignment appears in the list.
  5. To delete a security assignment, select it in the list and click the Delete button .
  6. Click OK to save your changes.
