Understanding GCF briefcases
The briefcases that are created and managed by the GCF are technically the same as briefcases that you create manually in Meridian Enterprise. To support the GCF functionality, the following capabilities of briefcases are used specifically by the GCF:
- References between documents are included in a briefcase and are recreated when the briefcase is imported. This allows for full support of 3D CAD applications.
- Document type information is included in the briefcase and is used to select the correct document type at the destination site for the imported documents.
- Global properties are included in the briefcase and are used to identify the source, destination, and type of GCF transfer.
GCF briefcases are created using a dedicated briefcase template. This template can be edited as needed to control which document properties are exchanged between the collaborating sites.
When GCF briefcases are created and imported, all briefcase-related events occur in the same way as with manually created briefcases.
