About folder replication

By default, the Global Collaboration Framework supports the Managed Change features of Meridian Enterprise and the Meridian Advanced Project Workflow module. This means that all changes to master documents and project copies, including their references, are replicated between the collaborating sites.

This functionality can be enhanced with the GcfFolder extension described in Configuring folder level collaboration. When the extension is assigned to a project folder type, it is possible to:

  • Specify shares that are automatically enlisted for all new project copies made in folders created from that type.
  • Synchronize folder security.
  • Replicate empty folders. New folders in the local vault will also be created at all enlisted sites even if they do not contain documents.

  • Prevent the Release as Master revision command from being used when only the project copy is replicated between sites. Ordinarily, the project copy cannot be released as a new master revision because there is already a master revision at one of the collaborating sites. The GCF does not synchronize the project folder workflow states between collaborating sites.

The following topics describe how to configure these advanced features.
