Configuring the document transfer protocol

The GCF supports several document transfer protocols, including HTTP, FTP, and simple file copying. For a description of how the GCF uses the HTTP protocol, see Understanding the HTTP protocol.

Note    Multiple transfer methods can be configured on the same server.

To configure the transfer protocol:

  1. Open Meridian Enterprise Configurator.
  2. Expand Environment in the configuration tree and select Vault Settings. The vault’s settings appear in property pages in the right pane.
  3. Click the GCF Configuration tab. The GCF Configuration property page appears.
  4. Click the Edit button in the lower right corner of the window. The page becomes editable.
  5. Select the shared vault you want to configure, and click the Edit button under the list. The Details dialog box appears.
  6. In the Transfer Protocol group, enable the protocol that you want the vault to use.
  7. If you selected the FTP or File Copy protocols, or specified a custom component protocol that uses a transfer folder, type the path to the folder that contains the incoming briefcases in Transfer Address.
  8. Click OK to close the Details dialog.
  9. Click OK to save your changes.
