You are here: Claiming ownership
Claiming ownership
Claiming ownership of a document locks the copy of the document in all shares except the current share and unlocks the copy at the current share. It also updates the status information that is shown at all collaborating shares. Claiming ownership requires:
- The current share must be enlisted for the selected document as described in Enlisting remote shares for documents.
- A copy of the document must already exist at the current share, made by one of the GCF scheduled transfers.
- If the document is already owned by another share and in a workflow, your name must appear in To-Do Person. This allows you to continue working on documents if you move to a different share.
To claim ownership of a document:
- In Meridian Enterprise PowerUser, select the document for which you want to transfer ownership.
- Click the Collaboration Status tab. The Collaboration Status property page appears.
- Click Claim. The Claim Ownership dialog box shows the status of the ownership request and ownership will be transferred by the next GCF scheduled transfer.
- Click OK to close the dialog.
Note It may not always be possible to claim ownership of a document, particularly if the document has been manually locked or is locked in a local workspace.
