Configuring the viewer options

Meridian Explorer can use one of the following viewers to show documents:

Which viewer is used and for what documents is determined by the viewers that are available to the client PC, by the central options configured as described in the following task, and by the preferences that are configured by the user.

By default, the configuration of the viewer window options are acceptable for most users but you can configure numerous options to further optimize their experience.

To configure the viewer options:

  1. In Meridian Enterprise Server Configurator, in the REPOSITORIES group, click Options. The User Defaults Options page appears.
  2. In the menu, click VIEWER OPTIONS. The list of configurable options appears.
  3. Click options or type values using the descriptions in the following table.

Enable Adobe Reader for PDF documents

If enabled, Adobe PDF documents are shown in Adobe Reader if it is installed on the client PC.

Use Adobe Reader as default viewer for PDF documents

If enabled and the Enable Adobe Reader for PDF documents option is enabled but the user has not set a preferred viewer for PDF documents, Adobe Reader will be the default viewer for PDF documents.

View documents from Meridian Web Access

If enabled, documents are loaded in the viewer from the Meridian Enterprise Web Access server (the source of the Meridian Explorer documents) instead of from the Meridian Explorer server. This option is only beneficial if the Meridian Enterprise Web Access server is significantly closer to the user than the Meridian Enterprise Server server.
