Installing Meridian Enterprise Server

The Meridian Enterprise Server application server includes business and data access components that are used by other BlueCielo applications. These components should be installed on a Windows server running Internet Information Services (IIS) on which you want to host Meridian Enterprise Server.

The components are installed using the Meridian Enterprise Server setup program. Meridian Enterprise Server is an integral part of:

Meridian Enterprise Server is typically installed on one computer. However, for maximum scalability it can be installed on multiple computers and configured as a cluster as described in Configuring a Meridian Enterprise Server cluster.

Before you begin
  1. Install Meridian Enterprise 2013 SP1 first. When selecting the components to install, do not select the BlueCielo Publisher extension components for either the server or client computers, including Meridian Enterprise Server nodes. No special steps are necessary for Meridian Enterprise 2013 SP2 or higher. For prior Meridian Enterprise versions, see Upgrading from previous versions of BlueCielo Publisher or Meridian Explorer.
  2. After installing Meridian Enterprise Server, install the Publisher 2013 extension files as described in Installing the BlueCielo Publisher extensions.

To install the components:

Open BlueCielo Meridian Enterprise Server.msi. The InstallShield Wizard for Meridian Enterprise Server dialog box appears.

  1. Click Next. The Destination Folder page appears.
  2. Accept the default folder or click Change to select a different folder.
  3. Click Next. The Custom Setup page appears. The most common components are selected for installation by default.

Review the selections in each branch using the descriptions in the following table. Click the or icon and select an installation option from the shortcut menu that appears. Select only those components for which you have purchased and installed licenses.

  1. Click Next. The Logon Information page appears.
  2. Enter credentials for one account under which the Meridian Enterprise Server services will run and the IIS application pool (BCEnterprise) under which the websites will run. To browse for an account, click Browse. For information about the security requirements for this account, see Understanding the security requirements.
  3. Click Next. The Ready to Install the Program page appears.
  4. Click Install. The Installing Meridian Enterprise Server page appears and shows the installation status until the installation has completed and the InstallShield Wizard Completed page appears.
  5. Click Finish to close the wizard.
  6. If the AutoVue rendering module was installed, the AutoVue Document Converter dialog will display the installation results. Click OK to close the dialog.
  7. If a rendering module will be used on the Meridian Enterprise Server computer that starts a native application (for example, AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, Microsoft Office, and so on), install and configure the native application.
  8. If AutoCAD drawings will be rendered with the AutoVue rendering module that use custom font (.shx) files, place copies of the font files in the following location after installation:

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Cyco Shared\AutoVue\Fonts
  9. If Meridian Enterprise Server is installed correctly, you can open Meridian Enterprise Server Configurator as described in Opening Meridian Enterprise Server Configurator.
